A call to reform undergraduate education

Posted on December 20th, 2017

A new report from the American Academy of Arts and Science is calling for widespread changes to higher education in the United States. The report advocates for creating high quality learning experiences, increasing institutions’ completion rates and reducing inequities, and controlling college costs. Among the recommendations, the report notes that co-op, internships, research, and international study can help students “improve their economic prospects…and continue to learn throughout their lifetime.” It also advises master’s and doctoral programs to integrate teacher training opportunities, and colleges to improve teaching through reviewing practices and better support for faculty.
