Coursera recently announced eight new learning hub partners, including The New York Public Library, which is their first hub located in the United States. The goal of the learning hub program is “to give communities around the world the ability to access online courses for free, and also to engage with others in a blended learning setting.” Learning hub participants show higher completion rates ranging from 30 to 100 percent compared to the 6.8 percent Coursera-wide average. Additionally, Coursera reports that the most popular course subjects at learning hubs are: 22 percent entrepreneurship, 20 percent STEM, 13 percent communications, and 10 percent teacher professional development.
