The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) has awarded $2.25 million in funding to 63 projects to enhance teaching and learning at UBC for the 2018-19 academic year.

Nine large projects (with funding from $50,000-$250,000) and 54 small projects (with funding up to $50,000) at the UBC Vancouver campus received funding this year. The projects are spread across 14 faculties and units and represent a range of strategies to enhance teaching and learning at both the course and program level, including expanding experiential learning opportunities for students, developing resources and activities to increase active student engagement and support student wellness, and developing open educational resources.

The TLEF has funded more than 1,000 innovative projects since its start in 1991. TLEF projects funded in 2017 were instrumental in transforming 157 undergraduate and graduate courses at the Vancouver campus. These courses impacted 13,580 unique students, approximately 25 percent of the UBC Vancouver student population.

On May 3, 2018, the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology will host the TLEF Showcase. Teams that received TLEF funding in 2017 and earlier will present posters at the event about how their projects are impacting the student experience across campus. Participants at the event can also learn more about applying for a TLEF grant and the types of initiatives it supports.
