Flipped classroom model for PHAR498

Principal Investigator:
Dr. Arun Verma

This project seeks to develop a flipped classroom model for PHAR 498 that transitions some lecture material and cases to online delivery and refocuses class time on the application of knowledge in a case-based format. The course will help develop students’ clinical reasoning and decision-making skills that will be carried through to the subsequent experiential course.

The online materials will include virtual cases, online interactive lecture modules, integrated formative assessments, and a virtual patient case. PHAR 498 will serve as a model for similar courses in the faculty and showcase what can be achieved for the new Entry to Practice program, which is being developed with input from various stakeholder groups, including students, alumni, professional bodies, government, community, and institutional employers.

The course will be offered in September 2013.
