Coursera’s online insight: Short classes are education’s future

Internal Coursera data shows that longer classes suffer from higher dropout rates. Their data suggests that the longer a class runs, the more likely learner intentions are “likely to be overwhelmed by unexpected personal obligations.” Coursera is currently offering classes as short as three weeks, and its most common offerings run just six weeks. Additionally, classes of 10 weeks or more constitute just 27 percent of their current offering.
