MIT will offer curricula, not just single courses, on edX

Posted on September 30th, 2013

MITx, a division of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)  that offers courses on the nonprofit edX’s platform, will soon offer special certificates to students who completed a prescribed sequence of massive open online courses from MIT. The two initial sequences are Foundations of Computer Science and Supply Chain and Logistics Management. The Foundations of Computer Science sequence will launch this fall and will consist of seven courses that together “will cover content equivalent to two to four traditional residential courses and take between six months and two years to complete.” Starting in the spring, the sequences will offer a fee base identity verification processes to provide an added value of “identity assurance for the certificates.” See also the edX press release for additional information: https://www.edx.org/alert/mitx-introduces-xseries-course/1137.
