UBC students can now study the human brain using holograms

Posted on October 3rd, 2017

UBC has teamed up with Microsoft Garage to develop an interactive teaching tool that gives students a new way to visualize the brain’s 3D structure. Using a virtual reality headset, students can walk around a hologram of the brain and highlight, isolate, expand, and rotate its structure. “The fact that you can walk around the brain. You can look above it. You can reposition it underneath. It really changes that understanding,” says Dr. Claudia Krebs, a professor of anatomy in UBC’s Faculty of Medicine.
