Courses + workshops
UBC’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) offers free courses and workshops for TAs who are interested in learning more about teaching practices and learning technology.
CTLT offers three-day Graduate Student ISWs designed for graduate students interested in developing and enhancing their instructional skills. Participants will have a chance to sharpen existing skills and to experiment with new approaches to teaching.
These workshops are geared toward instructors and graduate students who have a course they would like to design or re-design, regardless of mode: face-to-face, online or blended.
CTLT works with departments and faculties to develop and deliver training programs for TAs that meet specific discipline and department needs. For more information about training programs in your department, contact Shaya Golparian.
In these workshops, instructors and TAs who have implemented a new approach in their teaching practice share their experiences and discuss how it has impacted their teaching. Tipping Points are also available as webcasts, with online resources complementing the discussion.
The CTLT Institutes give the UBC teaching community an opportunity to share practices and research around teaching, learning, and educational technologies.
The Flipped Lab is a faculty-led network of instructors and staff who are engaged in or curious about the pedagogy and practical aspects of teaching in a 'flipped classroom' environment.
This community of practice is open to faculty, instructional and media support staff, and students who are learning new media skills, contributing to the creation of resources, and sharing practices. The group meets monthly.
