Coursera tinkering with instant enrollment idea

Posted on September 25th, 2014

Coursera is piloting four on-demand MOOCs that allow learners to begin the course immediately rather than having to wait for weeks or even months for a class to begin. According to Daphne Koller, Coursera’s president, “We find the number of people who enroll for a class and immediately start taking it are twice as likely to complete it as those who enroll a month or two before it begins.” According to Koller, only about 5 percent of those who enroll in Coursera’s MOOCs finish them. However, she also said that of the number of students who say they plan to finish the course they enroll in, the percentage who finish rises to 70 percent.
