Don’t call it a course

Posted on October 25th, 2013

Inside HigherEd reports on the trend of educational technology companies and universities moving away from using the word “course” to describe online learning experiences not anchored to a specific place or time. For example, instead of 90-minute lectures, online learning is often divided into “modules covering no more than one concept. When those modules are freed from the time constraints of a semester or quarter, the end result bears only some resemblance to a course.”
