LTI 1.1 enabled in all Coursera courses

Posted on March 22nd, 2014

Coursera has enabled the Learning Tools Interoperability Standard (LTI) in all of its courses. LTI is a standard that allows for integration of an external learning tool, such as a custom programming assignment, into a learning system like Coursera. LTI passes identity and role information (e.g., a student’s name) from Coursera to the external tools. When a student submits work to an external tool, LTI allows the student’s score to pass back to Coursera over simple web services. LTI will allow Coursera instructors to build new assessment or social capabilities and integrate them into their courses.
