Learning Technology Hub launches new website and new location

The Learning Technology (LT) Hub, a central learning technology service at UBC, has launched a new website for faculty and staff to explore learning technology tools available at the university.

The Hub, which opened last year, is a collaboration between CTLT and UBC IT. It offers support, in-person and online, for a range of learning technology tools including iClickers, edX, Camtasia, and WordPress. The goal of the LT Hub is to allow faculty and staff to resolve issues more quickly and conveniently by having a central service where IT can offer technical support and CTLT can offer functional/pedagogical support.

With the launch of their new website, the LT Hub hopes to consolidate useful resources into one location. On the website, faculty and staff can explore tools and learning technologies that can be used in traditional, blended, and online courses, as well as browse through user guides. Other features include information on contacting support, training, and committee groups and learning about and sharing innovative ideas on teaching with technology.

Faculty and staff can also visit the LT Hub in person at their new location in the Irving K Barber Learning Centre, in Room 2.27 (Fraser River Room), inside CTLT’s main office on the 2nd floor. The LT Hub is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the Hub with any learning technology inquiries.

Since opening, the LT Hub has seen a growing number of instructors use their services, and they plan to continue expanding, bringing in more teams to support various technologies. The LT Hub can be contacted at lt.hub@ubc.ca or 604 827 4775.
