Today’s comprehensive record: An evolutionary case study

Posted on July 19th, 2017

As different models for academic transcripts become more widespread, this case study looks at the evolution of transcripts at Elon University. The school, based in North Carolina, aimed to create a new transcript to “reflect and verify the diverse experiences of today’s student population.” Last year they launched their Visual Experiential Profile, a visually rich transcript that includes academic and experiential credits. The two-page transcript includes a summary of experiences and a timeline, as well as co-curricular experiences, including internships, research, leadership, service, and global education. Published research papers and internship descriptions are also embedded into profiles “to give potential employers the ability to see more of a student’s comprehensive four-year experience.”
